6th February 2026

On Tuesday 3rd February, Teach Vocation were invited to attend a reception sponsored by Carolyn Harris MP at the House of Commons, focused on the theme ‘Get Britain Working’. The event brought together national employment bodies, policy institutes, journalists, and sector leaders to discuss practical solutions to reduce economic inactivity and strengthen the UK labour market.

The panel explored how we can improve access to high-quality skills provision and create clearer pathways into sustainable employment. Discussions centred on removing barriers to work, supporting individuals facing disadvantage, and ensuring training aligns closely with employer demand.

At Teach Vocation, we are working closely with a wide range of employers, Jobcentre teams, and community partners to help people gain the skills, qualifications and confidence needed to move into employment and attending the event provided valuable insight and the opportunity to hear fresh ideas and diverse perspectives on overcoming labour market challenges. It also reinforced the importance of working in partnership with other organisations to drive meaningful, sustainable employment outcomes.

We are always looking at ways of developing our partnerships to ensure we can support our learners more effectively so if you are interested in partnering with Teach Vocation, please get in touch partnership@teachvocation.com

Supporting Learners Beyond the Classroom: Introducing Rumii – Teach Vocation’s New Personal Development and Employment Support Tool

Progressing into employment takes more than gaining a qualification. For many learners, the most difficult part comes afterwards: preparing for interviews, building confidence, staying motivated, and finding the right role. Teach Vocation has always recognised this and has built strong personal coaching and employer engagement into its programmes. Now, that support is being extended further with the development of Rumii, a new digital tool designed to guide learners during their course and long after they complete it.

Rumii has been created to act as a personal development companion, offering real-time guidance and practical support that helps individuals move confidently towards employment. Rather than providing generic information, Rumii adapts to each learner’s goals, strengths, and experiences. It encourages reflection, builds self-belief, and provides structured steps that support real progress.

This reflects our approach to learning, supportive, personalised, and focused on positive outcomes. Rumii brings these values into a digital space that learners can access whenever they need it.

Real time competency-based interview coaching

One of Rumii’s most impactful features is its competency-based interview practice. Many learners have the skills and experience employers want but struggle to express them clearly during interviews. Rumii helps individuals rehearse answers out loud, receive guidance in real time, and learn how to use simple and recognised interview structures.

It prompts learners to reflect on genuine examples from their training or work history and helps them shape these into confident, clear responses. If someone feels unsure how to highlight what they bring to a role, Rumii supports them to draw on their achievements and strengths in a way that feels natural and authentic.

For those who get nervous or lose confidence during interviews, Rumii offers techniques to stay calm and grounded. It helps learners practise pacing, tone, and clarity, making the interview experience more familiar and less pressured before they face a live situation.

Goal setting and personal growth

Alongside interview support, Rumii includes structured personal development tools. Learners can set goals, plan next steps, and break larger ambitions into manageable actions. This helps create consistency and momentum, which is often crucial when navigating the transition into work.

Rumii also encourages reflection. Learners can review what has gone well, notice areas where they feel less confident, and recognise the progress they have already made. This builds resilience and helps individuals stay focused even when job searching feels challenging.

Support does not end with the course

Rumii is not intended to replace personal support coaches. Instead, it extends their presence and strengthens the continuity of support learners receive. Rumii is available at any time, offering guidance and reassurance. When learners want to speak with their real coach, Rumii helps them prepare by gathering questions, concerns, or goals, ensuring discussions are meaningful and focused.

This balance of accessible digital support and genuine human connection reflects our belief that confidence grows when people feel guided, encouraged, and understood.

A companion for the journey into work

Rumii will be introduced across all Teach Vocation programmes over the coming months, with ongoing development shaped by learner and employer feedback. The aim is to give every learner not just the skills to do a job, but the confidence and clarity to secure and sustain one.

By combining interview practice, personal growth tools, real-time guidance, and continued coaching support, Rumii strengthens what Teach Vocation programmes offer: a pathway to positive, sustainable employment.

Rumii is more than a tool. It is a companion that stays with learners as they push forward, step by step, towards the future they want.

Ollies journey back to security

Ollie enrolled in our funded security course, initially thinking it sounded “too good to be true.” Having worked in security in the past before transitioning to retail management, he wanted to return to an industry he enjoyed. He saw this course as the perfect opportunity to make that change. "I was a bit dubious at first when I saw it online, but after speaking with Charlotte (Personal Support Coach), I decided to take the chance and enrol. From the information session onwards, I was impressed with what I heard, and it was reassuring to have South Lincs Security visit and address any concerns we had." Ollie found the course engaging and relevant, especially the customer service training, which was tailored to the security industry and helped those with little experience in that area. The transition to the SIA segment of the course was smooth, and he praised the quality of teaching, highlighting the support and encouragement he received from Sarah and Nas. "The help with the SIA licence application process that Charlotte provided made it so much easier this time around, which really reduced my stress." Since completing the course, Ollie has been working with South Lincs Security as a Steward and in static roles while awaiting his SIA licence. Once granted, he will take on a Door Supervisor role and explore additional opportunities.

"I would recommend anyone to train through Teach Vocation . Thank you so much for all your help." - Ollie
